Kia Gear Up: Day 2 – Challenge Course on Castelloli Circuit (Main Event)

Kia Gear Up

After a 7-minute bus ride, we had arrived to the other side of the Castelloli Circuit. The moment I got off, I could see the hardworking camera crew were busy setting up their drones at the top of the building. There were other directors and producers scouting the circuit and directed their staff the good spots to capture the moments.

Kia Gear Up

In front of me, I could see the start/finish line. The spot where I stood was the pit stop. Inside the garage, there were stools, tables, another pop up lounge and video game stations that were nicely setup by the Kia Gear Up team. Also, I saw two stylish modified Kia Pro_cee’d hatchbacks parked in front of the garage. As I chatted with one of the Kia staff and they told me the sporty Pro_cee’d is not available in the North America market. Instead, Pro_cee’d is the high end trim level version of the regular Cee’d hatchback sold in Europe. I guess in North America they had the Forte Koup so they may think it would be redundant if they import the Pro_cee’d. But honestly, I hope one day the Kia management would highly re-consider bringing in the Pro_cee’d, it’s a beautiful ride. After a nice short chat, I let the Kia staff get back to work. The Kia Gear Up Team had to inspect the modified Kia Pro_cee’d vehicles. As I glanced inside both vehicles, you could see the interiors were very bare. They stripped down the back seats and all the features that aren’t necessary in a racing vehicle to reduce weight. You could see the recaro racing seats were installed on both sides of the front seats. Racing seat belts were installed as well. Plus, a safety racing cage with fire extinguisher was found in the vehicle. At the end of the day, it’s nice to have fun and experience the speed of the Kia vehicles, but Kia puts everyone in safety first, that’s their top priority.

One of the executives gathered us around in circles and gave us a briefing on what to expect in the upcoming challenge exercises. So, all the Global Ambassadors simply were chilling in the garage and waited for their turn for various challenge exercises.

Kia Gear Up

Challenge #1: Professional Racing Drivers Stunt Show

To start off the circuit challenge exercise, Kia Gear Up team decided to warm us up with a Stunt Show Demonstration. Motor Racing Champion, Manfred Stohl and another Motor Racing Driver, Sandra Yelamos sat in the two Kia Pro_cee’ds and demonstrated to us their rally racing skills. The drifts and stunts that we often seen in movies were actually happening in front of our eyes. I love the engine sound, the speed, the drifting & the tire burning sounds added the adrenaline to my veins. My favourite part was when two cars were parked in spot #1 and #3 and the Kia Pro_cee’d drifted & slid into spot #2 (right in between car #1 and #3). That was spectacular!

Kia Gear Up

Challenge #2: Circuit Taxi Course

In order to ensure the Global Ambassadors were familiarize with the circuit course, each of us were assigned to sit in the passenger side of the race car and be driven by the Motor Racing Driver to go over the entire circuit. This challenge exercise allowed us to experience what a professional racing driver can do with the modified car under high speeds. At the same time, we got to familiarize with the circuit course.

When it was my turn, my heart started to pump a little bit. I sat in the passenger recaro racing seat. The seat provided lots of lumbar and lateral support. I felt the seat wrapped around my entire body to give me the most protection and comfort. Then, the Kia Gear Up staff slowly placed the seatbelts around me. The recaro seats didn’t use our normal 3-point side seatbelt. Instead, it had 2 seatbelts that secure my body in place. The driver smiled at me and asked if I was ready. “Hell ya, let’s do this!” Vroom! Vroom! We left the pit stop and onto race course. The first turn was ok, I could handle it as the car was still gaining up speed. But in turn 2 and 3, you could feel the high speed of the ride, the g-force was in effect. I could see the driver were busy shifting up & down through the turns. The apex section was fun and it was really cool, feeling the acceleration of the vehicle and what Kia engineering was capable of doing. I told myself I will follow the Kia Racing Team in the near future to see how they flare in the racing circuit. There were quite a number of twisty roads and turns at the Castelloli Circuit and after about 2 minutes, we were back into the pit stop for the next Ambassador.

It was definitely an amazing experience and I could tell you that I respect a race car driver alot. It’s definitely a sport as the driver has to be alert at all times and analyze their actions in high speed. Every decision can make or break the race car results or even their lives. The ride was definitely more fun than a roller coaster ride in a theme park.

Kia Gear Up

Challenge #3: Speed Racing Course

After every Global Ambassador took their turns sitting in the passenger seat, experiencing the high speed taxi style exercise, we were asked to take turns going through the speed course. This time, it’s our turn to be on the driver’s seat. My time has finally come! I got to drive this Kia Pro_cee’d! Again, the friendly Kia Gear Up Crew helped put the seat belts for me. Safety first! As everything was ready, off we go into the circuit. In my helmet, I could hear the instructions made by the professional driver. In real life, that’s how the rally team works, the engine and speed were so loud that they rely on the microphones to communicate with each other inside the car. The professional driver informed me what gear to shift when making the next turn, when to brake and when the turn was coming. He even informed me if the next turn was going to be a hard or a soft turn. At first, I was a bit skeptical pushing the limit of the car but as I got more comfortable shifting up & down through the course, I decided to push the pedal a little bit harder, just to experience what it was like to go through the turns at higher speed. The feeling was so refreshing. It was fun, moving in and out, left and right through the course. It was so satisfying!

Kia Gear Up

Finale: A Certificate of Completion

After every Ambassador had their little fun on the speed circuit, we were gathered again and the staff congratulated us for our job well done on all the challenges. At the same time, totally unexpected, they had prepared a Kia Gear Up Certificate of Completion for each of us. Everyone cheer for each other when our name was called. When I received mine, I could see my name, my country of origin as well as my race car driver picture (that was taken earlier during the day) on the certificate. This Certificate of Completion signified that we had gone through the various challenges and exercises throughout the entire Kia Gear Up Challenge.

Kia Gear Up

I found this Kia Gear Up Challenge very helpful and worthwhile because I was able to discover more about myself, push the limits under a safe and closed course environment to learn better driving skills. I got to do exercises that I normally wouldn’t have the chance to do it on our own. Also, we got to learn all the latest safety technologies that Kia vehicles had to offer. I would say, this Kia Gear Up Challenge is an once-in-a-lifetime experience for me that I will never forget. I know full well that not everyone has the opportunity to wear a racing outfit with the helmet & be able to drive a race car in a real circuit. That doesn’t come often. I would like to thank Kia Motors and Kia Canada for the kind hospitality and the precious opportunity to have me experience such an amazing Kia Gear Up Campaign.

Before we left for our bus, the entire Kia Gear Up Team, including the Global Ambassadors, Buddies, Executives went to the start/finish line to pose for group photos for a good memory.

Stay tuned for my next MoVernie BLOG as we headed back to the city of Barcelona to attend a nice restaurant for a “Life Talk” dinner at El Principal.

Kia Gear Up: Day 2 – My Personalized Kia Racing Outfit & Helmet

Kia Gear Up Challenge Course

After the fun Go-Kart experience and a lovely outdoor lunch, we got down to business with the “main event”, which was to test drive a modified Kia race car on the Castelloli Circuit. Before we hopped on the coach bus to get to the Castelloli Circuit, the Kia Gear Up Staff informed everyone to go inside the Kia Lounge. They said they had a surprise for us. As many peeps know, I love surprises!

After everyone found a spot to stand or sit, one of the Kia Motors Executive made an announcement and she told us that everyone will have a surprise gift box. After a minute or two, each buddy came out carrying a big Kia gift box. I wondered what’s inside? Silvio, my buddy came over and dropped off the box in front of me. He said “MoVernie, it’s a surprise for you! Open it!”

Kia Gear Up Challenge Course

So, I slowly opened the box and boom! The first thing I saw was a beautiful authentic, personalized Kia Gear Up Racing Outfit. It’s a very stylish racing outfit in Kia’s signature red & white colour. The texture on the racing outfit was comfortable but yet you could feel that the material were sturdy and durable. Nowadays, many peeps love to wear those onesie. The racing outfit was basically like a onesie. You had to stick your feet through the leg areas and then stick your arms into the arm area portion of the outfit. What impressed me the most? This was a personalized racing outfit with my name on it and more importantly, a Canada flag on it. I am a patriotic guy and I love my country. That moment when I saw the Canadian flag, I was proud and to be Canadian. Furthermore, ever since I was a kid, I always dream of being a race car driver. That dream never came but this Kia Gear Up racing outfit gave me a one-day experience to be a race driver on a real circuit. My dream came true!

Kia Gear Up Challenge Course

In addition to the Kia Gear Up racing outfit, there were a few Kia t-shirts and other goodies in the box. They were definitely great Kia Gear Up souvenirs. Just as I was super content on what I got, Silvio came back with another surprise! Kia Motors had also made personalized racing helmets for everyone! I had my own helmet with my name on it along with my beloved Canada flag! How cool? Kia Motors’ slogan “The Power to Surprise!” definitely delivered a surprise to everyone! It was a nice touch.

Kia Gear Up Challenge Course

Off we went to the locker room to change. Here was a cool MoVernie story to share. As I went into the locker room, I noticed there was a group of people that weren’t part of the Kia Gear Up Event. As I began to change my clothes, one of them grabbed my helmet and examined the Canadian flag and stuff. Then he said, “This is so cool, your uniform is so cool!” I said “Thanks! So…are you guys race car drivers, making your practice runs?” He said, “No! No! We are fire fighters, we come here to drive and learn to build endurance and work as a unit.” I said, “Wow! That’s interesting.”

Kia Gear Up

Another guy said “Do you want me to take photos of you with your outfit?” I said “Sure! Thank you so much!”

Just as I walked out of the locker room, we were asked to hop on the coach bus to get to the other side of the Castelloli Circuit for our Kia Gear Up Challenge. Stay tuned for my next MoVernie BLOG on my Kia Gear Up Challenge.

Kia Gear Up: Day 2 – Kia Vehicles Driving Experience

Kia Gear Up

After a lovely delicious outdoor lunch at the Kia Gear Up Training Facility, every Kia Gear Up Global Ambassador took turns taking different safety courses from professional instructors on how to be a better driver under different road conditions. In order for us to go through these various drills, we were given different Kia vehicles to experience these different exercises.

Drill #1: Kia Rio – Using its backup camera to back-in to a tight parking spot without the use of the rear view mirrors

For my first drill, I was assigned with a cute, red Kia Rio 5dr hatchback (manual). The objective was to back-in the Kia Rio in tight parking space without using the rear view mirrors but solely rely on the use of the backup camera to park the car. An instructor was sitting on the passenger side and thankfully, he was there to provide me with guidance and he went through in details on how to interpret and read the backup camera. Just like many backup camera, I had to learn how to read the colour codes and the distance relative from the car with the side walls and the back of the parking space.

Kia Gear Up

I got to admit that it was a bit difficult for me at first to rely solely on backing up the car with the backup camera, that’s because I usually rely heavily on turning my head and watch through the back window to back-in my car. And I rely heavily on the rear view mirrors with my own instinct. So, it took me a while at the beginning to fully trust the backup camera and trust that when it beats with an alert, it means the car is getting very close to the back wall. After a few tries, I got a hang of the backup camera and I parked the Kia Rio perfectly between two side walls without crashing them. That was a great experience and I learned to trust the new technology that Kia vehicles had to offer.

Kia Gear Up

Drill #2: Kia Sportage – Accelerating and instant braking on wet road surface

For my second drill, I was assigned with a white Kia Sportage (manual), which was a beautifully designed SUV. Again, another friendly instructor sat beside me on the passenger side. Basically, in this drill, I was asked to accelerate the Sportage from a dead stop and quickly accelerate for quite a distance on the wet road and then he suddenly will ask me to stop the SUV instantly. The objective was that when the vehicle was moving in a high speed, the instructor wanted me to be able to apply sudden braking of the Sportage and be able to steer the car into the direction and angle that I would like the SUV to be stopped.

Kia Gear Up

For the first try, I was skeptical on trusting the traction control and ABS brakes and all the other safety goodies as I just don’t normally get to stop in extreme road conditions to use these safety features. Furthermore, I didn’t really believe that I had the ability to be able to steer the SUV out of harm’s way. So, for my first try, my instant braking wasn’t as great as I would like. It took longer distance for the Sportage to be stopped and I stopped at the edge of the road, which wasn’t exactly what I wanted it to stop. However, after receiving the feedback from the instructor, we went for a second try. This time, I decided to give my trust to the technologies inside the Kia Sportage. After I accelerated the SUV, I quickly pressed the brakes on the wet surface and steered the SUV at a spot that I wanted it to stop. All the safety features were applied and the Kia Sportage put me into safety. That was impressive!

Kia Gear Up

I had to admit that this safety drill was very helpful to me as I live in Toronto, Canada, we often experience rainy, snowy or icy road conditions. For me to experience it first hand on how to stop the vehicle to a safety spot surely would help me better prepared myself in the near future. Furthermore, this drill allowed me to get to know all the different standard safety features equipped in the Kia vehicles and got to feel and experienced how each safety feature works.

Drill #3: Drifting in slippery surface

The last drill for me was a fun and unique experience. I was assigned with the funky, Kia Soul (which was the same model that I was driving for my Texas road trip back in April). Again, an instructor sat beside me and demonstrated to me how to drift the Kia Soul using different manual gears, along with applying the right amount of braking power and when to lift the hand brake to do the stunt moves. Honestly, I had seen enough drifting and stunts on the Fast & Furious movie – Tokyo Drift, so it was cool that I got to try it myself.

Kia Gear Up

The track was made with slippery surface, so when I accelerated, I could feel the wheels were trying to spin a little harder. We had to go through twist and turns through the pylons. At first, I was nervous and wasn’t sure exactly how I can accelerate the car, going through hard turns and meanwhile tapping the brakes and hand brake at the same time. It took me quite a few tries before I got a hang of it. I got to thank the instructor for his patience as I was trying to figure things out.

Overall MoVernie Experience:

All these drills were super fun but at the same time super helpful for our everyday driving. We live in different parts of the world with different driving conditions, so it was very useful to learn all the Kia’s latest technologies that are available in vehicles that are being sold to the public. Since we were going through all these drills in a closed and safe track courses, it gave us the freedom to make mistakes and to improve and learn from our mistakes. It was definitely a worthwhile exercise. Thank you Kia Motors!

Kia Gear Up: Day 2 – Go Kart Fun at Castelloli Circuit

Kia Gear Up Go Kart

After sitting in the classroom for a Kia Gear Up Safety Seminar, the staff informed us that we will be having some warm-up driving fun at the Go-Kart Track that was located beside the Castelloli Circuit. I think the safety seminar was very useful as it allowed everyone to remember the importance of being safe on any race track when operating any vehicles. At the same time, visually, we got to familiarize each race track courses, so kudos to the Kia Motors Team for their preparation and putting safety first for everyone!

Then, we hopped on the coach bus. It was a short 7 minute ride to the Go Kart race track. Then, we took a short walk. It was a relaxing walk on a sunny morning with cool breeze. My favourite part of the walk was walking up and down the rolling hills and moving through a mini tunnel, you could hear the echo from our group of people.

Kia Gear Up Go Kart

Then, we had arrived at the Go Kart track. We were greeted by the staff and they informed us to grab a helmet for our safety on the race track. They also told us the proper way to choose the right helmet size for our head and how to properly tie it up. It’s important that our helmet were not loose or moving alot. Since I have a big head, I opted for a large size helmet. LOL

Kia Gear Up Go Kart

Then, the Kia Gear Up Global Ambassadors were asked to grab a Go Kart and sat in them. I chose my ride, which had a #8 on it. Since one of my favourite Raptors of all-time Jose Calderon is from Spain, I decided to choose #8 as my ride. Very thoughtful eh?

Kia Gear Up Go Kart

The staff told us to put safety first and get a feel of the track and be considerate of other people. But after a few laps, we could let loose and experience the speed on the track. The moment when the staff turned on the engine of my ride, off I went to the open track. I was super stoked because the last time I drove on a Go Kart was 10 years ago! Vroom! Vroom!

I could feel my adrenaline pumping through my veins as this Go Kart had a very powerful engine. Love the vibration the ride produced as I whipped through the track. The sound of the engine and the acceleration was exhilarating. Never underestimate the speed of these little Go Karts because it had no body frames and was in open air, it actually felt quicker than you were sitting in a car at higher speeds. It was definitely super fun driving around the track for at least an hour. I got to admit though, being a professional driver isn’t an easy task, it’s definitely a physical sports although many people debated and said it’s not. Let me tell you, your brain is processing at all times, analyzing at all times on the track in such high-speed, there isn’t much time to process, so your brain have to act quickly. Furthermore, you have to be physically ready to be able to drive in a long periods of time with high endurance. Professional racing is definitely a physical sports in my opinion.

Kia Gear Up Go Kart

After the Go Kart fun experience, I was soaking wet, it was hot out there and when you were wearing a helmet, sweat came out, but that’s ok, it was definitely a fun exercise before we get into real vehicles later in the day at the Castelloli Circuit. We hopped back to the coach bus and headed back to the training facility to grab some lunch before we go through our next exercise. Make sure you check out my next MoVernie BLOG as Kia Motors hired a personal chef and food truck to make delicious Spanish food on the spot for us at the track. Kia Motors surely took care of our tummy with amazing tasty food. Stay tuned!

Kia Gear Up: Departing at the Toronto Pearson Airport. Heading to Barcelona, Spain – (MoVernie Travel & Tourism)

IMG_6829

After a long day of working hard at the office, I waved good bye to my colleagues. Many of them jokingly told me how jealous they were of my trip to Barcelona. Joking aside, they were all proud of me and very happy that a large corporation such as Kia Motors recognized my hard work and recognized how powerful of my Social Media Influences. And never in my mind that this nice gesture from Kia Motors that my colleagues got to know more about Kia products and think highly of them as a company. My colleagues told me that if this car company was kind enough to treat me right, to them, it means this is a good company they would be proud to associate with. That’s an interesting piece of information that I would never knew.

So, I hopped into a cab and off we go to the Toronto Pearson Airport. On a side note, I was looking forward to meet the Kia Canada representative, whom I was told by the organizer, will be accompanied me to Barcelona on the same flight. So, I reached out to him a few nights before via email, his name is Andrew, who is the Social Media Manager for Kia Canada.

After getting stuck in traffic for a while (the usual in the6ix), I had finally arrived at the airport. As I was lining up to get check in, I saw Andrew came over and introduced himself. It was so nice to know someone was going on the same flight as you and knowing exactly what’s happening once we landed in Barcelona.

After we had unloaded our suitcases to the conveyor belt, we passed through the custom and we had some free time before boarding. Terminal 1 of Toronto Pearson Airport was modern and super beautiful. We had decided to order dinner at the kiosks. It’s such a cool concept! You basically choose any seats you want, scroll through the iPad and you ordered the food online. Then, a staff will bring your food order right at your table. It’s fast and easy to use. The best part about the iPad ordering? The iPad had application software program that prompted you to enter the flight you were boarding, so if there were any updates or boarding time changes, they would remind you, so that’s an awesome idea.

I ordered penne chicken pasta. Andrew and I chatted during our dinner. I told him more about myself and my past work and about my MoVernie brand. He also told me about his Social Media work and his team with Kia Canada. I told him how cool it is for a large corporation such as Kia to believe in the power of social media and how important it is for them to recognize social media influencers such as myself and others in this industry.

During our conversation, Andrew received a text message and he informed me, “Vernon, just a heads-up, once we have landed in Barcelona Airport, the film crew will start filming you, so just be yourself but don’t be surprise”. So, I told Andrew not to worry because I have my own MoVernie web TV shows that I am used to being on camera. I figured, most likely, there will be a photographer and a videographer waiting for me. That’s just based on my past experiences. But I was DEAD WRONG! Stay tuned to find out what happened when I arrived at the Barcelona Airport.

THANK YOU KIA CANADA & KIA MOTORS! – Something to be thankful for! (MoVernie Travel & Tourism)

THANK YOU Kia Canada & Kia Motors

THANK YOU Kia Canada & Kia Motors

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) was over this past September! Thanksgiving long weekend just pasted last week. I am a person who is always grateful and thankful of what I have. But after Thanksgiving was over, I decided to sit down and reflect on all the great memories that I had experienced so far. There was one thing that I had done this year that I am super thankful for and there is no doubt it was my Kia Gear Up experience back in May of this year.

A few months ago, many of you had already read my short brief MoVernie BLOGs on my Kia Gear Up journey. Ever since I returned from that trip, I had never thought that my MoVernie brand would be that busy and jam packed. MoVernie was ALWAYS on the MOVE to the point that I couldn’t sit down and reflect and boom, I was off to another event. I didn’t want to rush my thoughts or my experiences during this Kia Gear Up trip as I really want to sit down, relax and flashback all the great memories and experiences and share with you guys. Finally! I got some quiet time during this October to share my experiences with you.

FYI – Ever since I got back from that trip, all the memories were stored in my brain, but I locked the images and experiences in my memory because I didn’t have time to sit down and reflect and relish those precious moments. In the next few weeks, you will get to read my detailed MoVernie BLOGs on my Kia Gear Up journey in detail as I slowly unwind and unlock all of the amazing images and experiences during my Kia Gear Up Trip in Barcelona, Spain.

Let the Kia Gear Up journey begins!

Let me tell you a little background about the Kia Gear Up Campaign. Kia Gear Up was a global initiative organized by the Kia Motors Headquarter from Seoul, Korea. The HQ connected all of its Kia divisions from around the world, including Kia Canada, to participate and to bring a chosen Global Ambassador to represent each of their respective countries to this special project called “Kia Gear Up”. The objective of this campaign was to choose a group of young generation of people to fight over their fears, to encourage them to think outside-of-their-boxes, to be free and be confident about themselves and create their own paths in life. So…exactly, how do they achieve this? They had decided to modify their Kia vehicles into rally racing vehicles on a real race track, allowing the groups of young people to push their limits (under supervision of professional race car drivers) and discover more about themselves through this unbelievable precious opportunity of travelling to a beautiful city called Barcelona.

A few weeks before the trip, Kia Canada contacted me and had told me that out of hundreds of candidates that they had carefully reviewed, that they had chosen me as the ONLY person to represent Kia Canada to participate in this Kia Gear Up campaign. The moment after I heard of this great news, I was frozen; I was asking myself if this was “REAL”. After 5 minutes, I was full of joy and felt super stoked. They told me that they will be flying me to Barcelona, Spain to join other lucky Global Ambassadors from around the world to this Kia Gear Up Event. During those few weeks before the trip, I had to be prepared, not just packing luggage, but also to re-new my Canadian passport, apply for an International driver’s license (so I can drive on the racetrack in Barcelona). Kia Motors HQ also called me from oversea to interview me and asked me more questions, wanting to know more about me before the trip.

I got to say, Barcelona, Spain was always a place that I wanted to travel and visit. And to have Kia Motors fulfilling my bucket list was extra special. I am super thankful and grateful of this trip and thank you Kia Canada and Kia Motors for giving me this wonderful once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget!

Stay tuned for my Kia Gear Up Journey!

Mazda CX-3 GT AWD – MoVernie First Drive

This past weekend, I went to the Mazda Canada Headquarter and picked up a nice hot ride, which was the all-new 2016 Mazda CX-3 GT AWD. The moment I saw the CX-3, I was in love! The ride was in the “Soul Red” body paint. I am usually not a red car type of person but Mazda has successfully developed this special red colour that they can call it uniquely it’s own invention, it’s a special red!

I think it’s love at first sight as from any angle, front, side and back, this car loves amazing! The best part has yet to come, the moment I used the keyfob to open the door, to my surprise, what a beautiful interior! It is by far one of the best use of rich material and colour combinations that I have seen in a car. The use of leather, suede, metal and carbon fiber looking type of material were used to give the CX-3 a high-tech, sporty and futuristic look. It feels way more expensive than it’s asking price. And the best part? The use of white, black and raspberry colour combo throughout the entire cabin. The stitching along the dashboard, oh mine, super thoughtful by the designers.

I can’t wait to take this car for a spin and I will be driving this car for a week, attending to various cool events and places. Stay tuned for my in-depth driving experience at a later date. For now, check out some of the photos that I took with this gorgeous 2016 Mazda CX-3 GT AWD.

Kia Sedona SXL – MoVernie 1st Drive

IMG_2247

This past long weekend, we had decided to make a road trip up north to a cottage to relax and to enjoy some cottage life. This mini road trip allows us to checking out the nature and the beautiful landscape that Ontario has to offer. So….to drive up to the cottage life in style, I had requested a brand new 2015 Kia Sedona from Kia Canada. As Kia’s slogan “The Power to Surprise” summed it up, this Sedona came with lots of goodies and good surprises! I thank Kia Canada for providing me with this top-of-the-line “SXL” trim level for a week long driving experience.

Sedona is a minivan that sits 7 people spaciously and comfortably. The 2nd row in particular, feels like a first-class airplane ride as it comes with 2nd row captain chairs with armrests, airplane headrests, top quality of leather material and state-of-the-art reclining capabilities.

I will have a whole week to test drive and experience this smooth ride. For now, from my first drive, let me highlight (see below) some of the features that this Sedona SXL offers that really stood out that I want to share with you right away.

Normally, minivan don’t even offer a sunroof as an option but Kia Sedona not only have one sunroof in the front, it also offers a 2nd sunroof for the rear passengers so they can enjoy the sky view as well.

Heated Seats & Ventilated Seats:

Heated seats for cold weather and ventilated seats for the hot summer, how thoughtful? Trust me, during this hot summer week, the moment I turned on the ventilated seats, I felt like I was sitting afloat on cold water, it felt good. Its a soothing feeling!

Heated Steering Wheel:

Oh yes, during colder weather, not only your bum bum feels warm, so does your hands, the steering wheel warms up quickly and it warms at the perfect temperature so you won’t feel over heated. Because we all know, if the steering is too hot, you don’t want to have your hands there and thus, become a driving hazard. I am sure Kia engineers did so many experiments to find the perfect temperature point for Kia users! Well done! Loving the heated steering wheel.

Power Liftgate + Dual Power Sliding Doors:

Imagine you are holding lots of groceries or you just too lazy to even flex your muscles to open the liftgate? No worries, with a few touches of the fob key (where all the buttons are), all doors will open nicely. It’s a very useful feature. I love it very much!

360 View Cameras

In many vehicles nowadays, they come with backup camera. Although that’s great, Kia engineers and designers stepped up this technology to a few notches higher. It’s comes with a 360 camera that allows you (from the inside) to see the entire 360 of your vehicle from the touch screen. When you back up your minivan, not only you can see the exact rear, you can use the features in your touch screen and choose the exact rear left or rear right, just to see in detail if there are any objects lying on the rear right or rear left of your minivan. Even better, you can do the same for the front view. So far, I have been using this feature extensively and I wish every car company has such amazing feature.

There was one time when I made a left turn in a congested traffic jam, the car in front of me wanted to go to the middle lane, so part of its rear still blocking my lane and meanwhile that car is waiting to get into the middle lane in the traffic jam. Unsure how much space I have on my right side and not sure if I have enough to pass through this car in front of me, I clicked the touch screen, choose the front right view, I can see clearly that I have enough space to pass through. In the past, without such high-tech feature, I would be stuck in the traffic behind the car.
