2015 All-New Honda Fit EX-L – MoVernie Preview

IMG_8656

This past week was a busy week for me, there were tons of things to do, however, they were all fun stuff! Lots of happenings, from covering the Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS) on Media Day to celebrating my mom’s birthday (Happy Birthday Mom!) to Valentines Day, how about NBA All-Star game and then Family Day and last but not least, Chinese New Year (what’s your zodiac?) is fast approaching, how do I stuff all these activities into my busy schedule?

Well…the all-new 2015 Honda Fit made it all happened as I drove this cool ride around the city to get all these things done! This past week, the PR of Honda reached out to me and asked me if I want to have a nice ride that can transport me to cover the Canadian International Auto Show. My response? Can’t say no to new cars and hot rides! I was given a choice of a red automatic or a black with manual gearbox. My first instinct? Got to go with the manual gear box. Honda has one of the best manual gearbox in the business and coupled with it’s high revving, i-VTEC philosophy, I had to chose the manual gearbox. As expected, in my preliminary first few days of spending time in the all-new Honda Fit, I am 160% sure the manual was a great choice! I love it! I love it! Love the sound of the engine and the smooth gear shifts with this little rocket pocket.

So far so good, a few features that I would like to pinpoint and are “MUST-HAVEs” if you are purchasing the new Honda Fit. First of all, in the freezing cold winter that we just experienced and STILL experiencing, I highly recommend you to get the heated front seats, in MoVernie terms, aka “Ass Warmers”. These ass warmers come in “High or Low” mode, depending if you want your ass to be “well-done” or “medium rare” whatever works for you. As for me, I love it “well-done”.

The touch screen located in the centre dashboard is top notch and high tech. I would never thought a subcompact car in this segment would even offer you tv screen to begin with, mind a touch screen, which is far more advanced than many $30,000+ cars that don’t even offer touch screens.

And speaking of the touch screen, it has many uses to it. In particular, it’s a “MoVernie MUST-HAVE” to get the Honda state-of-the-art “LaneWatch Blind Spot Display”. Many high end vehicles would offer you a lane changing signal that is located on the right side of the rear view mirror. When a vehicle is close by beside your car, the light will flash, indicating to you not to make a lane change as there is a car beside you. Honda Fit take that technology to the next level, whenever you make a right-hand signal, the touch screen will automatically switch its control panel display into an instant video display on the right side of your car. Basically, the touch screen is showing you exactly what is happening outside of the right side of your car. You can clearly see if there is any car beside you and you can even spot if any pedestrain or hidden bikers beside you. Those blind spots will be eliminated. I have to admit that, it took me a while before I trust and got used to looking at the touch screen, but it’s a great technology to have. I love it! It’s a genius creation by the Honda Designers. Honda name it’s subcompact “Fit” for a reason because this subcompact has tons of head and leg room and its best in its class in cargo space, which means, it can fit many of your stuff in this car!

Some lucky fans were also lucky enough to get to meet & greet with the Raptors Super Star. They got autographs and posed with Kyle Lowry.

The venue took place at Square One Shopping Mall located in Mississauga. MoVernie Crew was lucky enough to cover this special event with Exclusive VIP Media passes (Thank you Degree Men!). Kyle Lowry special appearance was to demonstrate the brand new product from Degree Men, it’s a dry spray antiperspirant that will protect your body odour without leaving any residue that normally found in traditional antiperspirant. Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash – NEW

IMG_7742

What a great way to start off the weekend with the arrival of the brand new Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash via express courier, courtesy from Dove Canada. With this dry cold winter, it’s important for me to look fresh and maintain smooth skin. I haven’t have a chance to try it yet but I will sure give it a good test, review it and share the information with my peeps! You know how much I love to share great information with you guys!

By looking at the body wash bottle, it says that Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash contains 10x more moisturizers than the next leading brand, which will leave you with smoother, softer skin after just one shower. That sounds good to me. I did do a preliminary sniff test and it smells good and the fragrance isn’t overpowering, which is KEY to me. Just for your record, I think men should maintain good personal and body care. Men should maintain good skin as well. It’s not just for women anymore, we, as men, needs to be taken care of as well 🙂

Stay tuned for my in-depth review on this Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash at a later time! Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, click here to check out the Dove Canada website with more details about this product! Thank you to Dove Canada for the samples & the lovely packaging! 🙂

motionball 2015 – Glitz & Graffiti Gala

IMG_7844

motionball 2015 Glitz & Graffiti Gala happened last evening at the Liberty Grand. This marks its 14th annual charity event with the aim to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation (SOCF). For those who have never been to the Liberty Grand, let me tell you, this venue is HUGE! And it’s also classy, elegant and grand. It has numerous number of large ball rooms with high ceilings and with some rooms even with the second level, overlooking the beautiful ground floor.

Walking into the Liberty Grand last night was like an adventure. And you know how much I like to explore, room after room, there was a different theme, different vibe as DJs played different type of music in each room. Just as I thought I had conquered checking out all the areas, I was dead wrong. There were more rooms at the end of the grand hall, with a long displays of memorabilia for people to bid for silent auction. Later in the night, an additional dance room was opened. No matter how many big rooms they had opened, each room were jam packed with people. That’s because there were at least over 2500 people in attendance in supporting the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. That my friend, it’s a rarity, 2500+ people jamming in the rooms having an entertaining night.

IMG_7761

It was a great way to spend the evening with great food, open bar, live music and entertainment, mix and mingle with cool people. Keeping yourself warm from the cold winter outside. I have covered numerous big events and I know it’s only February 2015, but I can tell you, motionball is by far one of the best events of the year! It’s very well-organized, food was high quality (and you know how much I love to eat and know what is good shit!), the layout of the entire event was unbelievable.

If you are interested to find out more about motionball and who they are, their mission and more about the various activities/gala they provide, click here.

I recommend you to purchase tickets and come to the Motion Ball 2016! See you next year!

Meanwhile, check out the awesome pictures that I had snapped from last night’s motionball 2015.
