Godzilla (videos) – Toronto Red Carpet & Screenings

Last Thursday, Director of the blockbuster movie Godzilla, Gareth Edwards, took time to answer questions from the media as well as greeting fans.

Gareth was very friendly and appreciated the fans waiting outside in the rain. Despite he was late for the advanced screenings at the theatre, he decided to turned back and signed more autographs and took photos with the fans. Very nice of him.

Below are the exclusive videos that I took during Gareth Edwards Red Carpet Media Event as well as his greetings with the fans at the Toronto Godzilla Disaster Zone.

Godzilla – Director Gareth Edwards in Toronto

This past Thursday, although, the weather wasn’t cooperating, it was raining quite a bit. But that didn’t stop Godzilla fans from standing around the barricades to meet director of this blockbuster movie, Gareth Edwards. First, he let the TV media to interview him first. One-by-one, he answered the TV Hosts’ questions. Mad respect to the TV Crew staff who works in this industry, they were standing in the cold and wet rain for more than 2 hours and protecting their high quality expensive equipment in order to capture the footage to share with their audiences.

After the interviews, Gareth greeted the fans who were soaking wet, waiting patiently to seek his autographs, taking a photo with him or just to talk to him. At one point, the meet & greet was cut short as Gareth is late to attend the advanced screening of the movie at the AMC Theatre at Dundas Square. But a twist of turn, Gareth told his PR that he would like to stay just a little bit longer to greet the fans and then he decided to come back and signed more autographs, took more photos (including myself) with everyone, including little kids. He was a friendly, sincere gentleman who really appreciates the fans and took the time to interact with the fans.

Best of luck to Gareth in his career and hope for a huge boxoffice score in the theatre which Godzilla is currently playing!

Godzilla Disaster Zone – Toronto

As we walked towards north of Dundas Square & continued to walk north along the busy Yonge Street, suddenly something caught the corner of my eyes. I saw a subway train on display, smashing on top of a car and a Toronto Sun newspaper stand. Then I saw a helicopter smashing the subway train. These props were all being used as a display for the new blockbuster movie called “Godzilla“.

As I looked up on the rooftop, I saw two cars flipped upside down as well (see photos below). Then, I saw Godzilla posters on the wall, indicating that the movie (distributed by Warner Bros.), Godzilla will be in theatres near us on May 16, 2014 (which is today).

A few minutes later, a Godzilla decorated truck approached the scene. Two military dressed staff got off the truck and told us to watch the trailer from the flat screen TV that was installed on the side of the truck. The staff were giving away Godzilla posters, tees and coffee mugs. They even posed photos with people. They even informed us that the director, Gareth Edwards will be on hand on May 15 at 6pm to greet the fans. The staff told the crowd that this display is called “Godzilla Disaster Zone“, that imitated part of the scene in the movie.

Honestly, this display is by far the most spectacular display I have ever seen. It gave us a feel of an Universal Studio with a tourist attraction to pose for photos.

If you want to check this display out, it should still be around during this long weekend. It’s located at Elm Street & Yonge Street intersection.

Below are the photos that I took at the Godzilla Disaster Zone in Toronto.

Japan: New Godzilla 2014 “Too Fat”

by Shaf

Words on the street that the new Godzilla coming out is “Too fat for it’s role.”

Two words mister…Stair Master

Hollywood was never kind to out of shape lead roles. The same would go with an apocalyptic monster of destruction…a few pieces of chub sticking out and BAM it’s over.

Many on Japanese forums have even linked it to the likeness of NFL Football players. “He’s pudgy and cute.”

Godzilla laying smackdown on such comments:

But I don’t know…is Godzilla made to look like the image of a pudgy American?

What say you Canada?

Has Hollywood gone too far Or is it just right?

Here’s an older version of Godzilla:

godzilla-heisei

And here’s the 2014 version of Godzilla:

Clearly 13% more body fat

Clearly 13% more body fat

Do you see it?

I see it.

I say Whatever.

Leave the beast in peace.

Come May 16th, that’s when we can judge the movie in it’s full glory.

Till that time let’s enjoy an extended video trailer of the movie:
