CNE 2015 – What’s New This Year?

In case you haven’t been to CNE this year yet, you still have about a week left to visit. Honestly, it’s not something you will miss out but I do think it’s a great festival for you and your loved ones to relax, grab a bite, try some new rides and just having a calm and collected day before school starts.

I still recall those days when I was still in school, I had a great time at the CNE but also the reality kicked in when I realized CNE also signify that I have to go back to school. CNE is famous for wacky new food items that will wow you for all the weird reasons. Many food vendors will try to think out-of-the-box and wanted to shovel all the weird ingredients that may not make sense and try to put them into your stomach. Food items that created lots of buzz include Timbits poutine, Bison sausage poutine, double donut burger, etc.

Personally, the Timbits poutine was disappointing to say the least, it’s just purely a bunch of Timbits placed at the bottom of the coffee cup, toppled with whip cream or ice cream of some sort, it lacks flavour and both items didn’t blend well for my taste.

Timbit Poutine

The bison sausage poutine was my pick, sausage was chewy and tender, gravy on the hot fries were top notch.

Double donut burger, it looks nasty from an appearance standpoint but when I got a bite on it, it actually worked well. Must be the sweetness of the donut bun mixed well with the salty beef patty.

Double Donut Burger

And as usual, you get those game booths located outside the buildings. You have water gun, roll the ball, darts, whack a mole, etc. This year lineup of plush toys include The Minions; Big Care Bears (I mean bigger than normal human beings); Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and much much more. Back in the days, my bro and I loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and there was a fishing game. My dad wanted to win a medium sized Michelangelo for us. So, he asked the staff how to win. The dude thought my dad was some guy who possibly wouldn’t know what to do. 5 minutes in, my dad used his amazing dexterity to pick out the red fish out of hundreds of blue fishes and he won the Michelangelo for me. I will always remember that and still have that plush toy in my room.

As always, there were tons of midway rides that your kids or yourself would appreciate. In one particular ride, which I highly recommend is the “Skyride”, it’s basically a ride that stretches from one side of the BMO Field and runs all the way to the Direct Energy Centre, approximately 15 ft above ground. It’s especially beautiful at night, seeing the BMO Field upclose, the Ferris wheel upclose and flashing lights were amazing. Each stretch costs you $5 per person but it’s worth it, to be high up in the air, overlooking the CN Tower and seeing human beings walking beneath you, it’s a great feeling. And oh yes, and I am scare of heights so that’s shows you how much I love this ride, overcoming my biggest fear.

CNE Skyride

If you love country music, there is a venue called the “Northern Saloon”, country talent such as the rising star Cory Marquardt and many other talents performed there nightly. If you prefer pop or rock music, Bandshell Stage featured various talent daily, including the pop sensation Cody Simpson, who performed last evening.

So….you still get your chance to check out all the goodies that CNE has install for you until Labour Day long weekend. Don’t forget the traditional air show that happens throughout the long weekend as well. Sit back and enjoy the rides!

Let’s go to the Ex and MoVernie is outta here!

Raptors Social – MoVernie interviews Morris Peterson (MoPete) 2.0

A few months ago, the Toronto Raptors held its annual Raptors Charity Gala Event called “Raptors Social“. It’s an opportunity for Raptorsfans to meet & greet their favourite Raptors players in an off-court setting. Raptorsfans purchase the tickets and all net proceeds of the evening benefit the MLSE Foundation & the Regent Park Athletic Grounds project. For this year’s Raptors Social, the event was held at Muzik Nightclub. This event is always a BIG hit because the fans got to meet the entire Raptors roster all under the same roof and some lucky ones even get a drink or two prepared by their favourite players. That’s because some of the Raptors players such as Terrence Ross and Kyle Lowry (just to name a few) stood behind the bar counter, serving and mingling with the fans. It was a great evening for a great cause.

During the media session at this event, I got an opportunity to interview my favourite Raptors of all-time, Morris Peterson (MoPete), it was my second time interviewing MoPete. I still recalled the year before, when I interviewed MoPete, my legs were shaking. I had never got nervous interviewing anyone before but with my idol, MoPete, that was another story. This time, for MoVernie interviewing MoPete 2.0, I was more calm.

Check out my interview conversation with MoPete below:

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “MoPete, do you recognize me?” (me with a chuckle)

MoPete HS MoPete: “Ya man! Wait, no no….How are you doing man?” as MoPete playfully inspect my fedora to act if he isn’t sure if he recognizes me.

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “Ha! Ha! Good to see you man! This is MoVernie on the MOVE. Beside me is my idol, MoPete, as always. Last time, I don’t know if you remember, my legs were shaking, but this time I feel alot better. But nice to see you again.”

MoPete HS MoPete: “Thank you! Nice to see you again! You dressed pretty well tonight.”

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “You are the same Mo!”

MoPete HS MoPete: “Thank you. Thank you.”

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “You know, this year is the 20th Anniversary, they showed alot of highlights about you, like the miracle shot, now seeing the purple coming back, what’s it feels like being part of the 20th Anniversary?”

MoPete HS MoPete: “It feels good. Coz this organization has done alot for the city and being 20 years shows resilience, I have been to lots of ups and involves in lots of downs, this city keeps fighting man. And for 20 years, it’s special. There are a lot of guys that came through this organization over the years, like we look at a guy like Muggsy, Al and Antonio, those guys showed me the way, showed me how to be a professional”

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “So, what kind of message do you tell the younger players on the roster?”

MoPete HS MoPete: “Well..I just tell them to stay focused and stay ready because in this league, it’s all about opportunity, it’s all about minutes and earning playing time and that’s what I try to encourage.”

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “You have a lot of highlights but what was the highlight that really stick to your mind?”

MoPete HS MoPete: “One of my highlights was when I met you last year man”

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “Wow! MoPete man, that’s amazing!”

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “Well…tonight is for Raptorfans donating for Regent Park and charity, what type of message do you want to give to the Raptorsfans?”

MoPete HS MoPete: “The Raptorsfans, well, I think this charity is good, you know, what we are trying to do is build courts around the city because basketball is big here, there are a lot of draft picks, a lot of people really watch basketball and part of that is, help building communities, have these parks available, so they can play basketball and achieve their goals.

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “Last question, my mom is a big fan of MoPete as well, she wants to know. Hey!, what is he doing right now after basketball?”

MoPete HS MoPete: “MoPete is here chilling with MoVernie. Hey mom! How’s everything? Your son dress nice and look cooler than me. But it’s ok.” (MoPete with a smile)

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “I always see you coming back to Toronto, doing alot of things.”

MoPete HS MoPete: “Oh! Definitely! Toronto is my home, it’s my second home. I look forward coming back, the people always show me a lot of love and respect. I think they respect the blue collar work ethic. And I told people that Toronto reminds me of Michigan. First of all, the people are great, they have the joy and the passion of what they do and they stick together. And that’s the big thing, sticking together through the good times and the bad times. I tell you what, this team is playing awesome this year, they have matured, they are feeding off the energy from the city. I think they got a taste from last year with the playoffs and now you can see it in their eyes that they are actually come ready to play at the beginning of the season.

MoVernie HS MoVernie: “Thank you man! MoPete & MoVernie interview 2.0. Thank you!”

MoPete HS MoPete: “Thanks Mo!”

I would like to thank MoPete for his valuable time and thank you the MLSE TeamUp Foundation for the interview opportunity during the Raptors Social.

Did you know? MLSE 2015 Players’ Gala is happening this coming Sunday, March 29th at Real Sports Bar & Grill? Due to popular demand, tickets for this gala are SOLD OUT! However, if you want to donate for a good cause, you can still do so by clicking this link.

Raptors Season Preview Party

Contributor: Khristian Padua

Not just any normal Sunday but the Sunday before the highly anticipated Raptors 2014/2015 season starts. Hundreds of passionate fans showed up an hour before the doors opened including my self to catch a glimpse of the event which is about to occur . This act of eagerness plus everyone wearing Red , Black , or White Raptors gear shows how hungry are amazing city of Toronto is for a winner ! Not only were the beautiful people of Toronto who came in all ages and ethnicities covered in Raptors attire but all around the Air Canada Center , buildings & walls were filled of Raptors murals & advertisements . Toronto as a city has morphed into a dynamic, excited & proud culture ready to embrace that next level of success after that brilliant year in which our Raptors broke many records .

My mentor and friend Vernon Chang & I started the evening by lining up to meet the Raptors Brazilian rookie Bruno Caboclo. Bruno is a very tall but sweet guy . As I shook his hand he had a smile that showcased that he was very excited but at the same time a little bit overwhelmed with all the attention. Which is totally understandable for a 19 year old whose life took an unexpected positive change being a draft pic to the NBA after being fairly new to the game of Basketball. As he adapts I believe he will be a steal for the organization. When it was Vernon’s turn Bruno shook his hand and happily told Vern ‘ Hey I like your style ! ‘ even though his English is broken. This is quite the compliment to Vernon’s style and overall persona , we were both very happy that Bruno had such a nice first impression .

Before we headed into the presentation we were offered our free food and drinks as a welcome gift to the organizations supportive and passionate season ticket holders such as Vernon. Our plates came with a burrito , mixed rice , poutine , banana bread and a chilled beer to wash it all down . After settling in our seats of the Air Canada Center out came Toronto radio hosts Tim & Sid mic’d up on the nice set up of a mega screen big screen TV , a leather couch & chairs. They started by introducing and thanking the fans for coming out while doing hilarious skits praising Raptors GM Masai Ujiri. Very funny start to the presentation . Next came serious business as Masai Ujiri gave his expectations to the upcoming season and his thoughts on the overall situation of Toronto and the amount of success we achieved last season . One thing he consistently pointed out in his rants was that our fan base was bar none the best fan base in the NBA which i can personally agree & say I am proud of being apart of . Our strong fan base is going to be the 16th man game in game out for the Raptors. After Tim and Sid picked apart Masai’s brain asking analytic and dynamic questions for the crowd the fans were given an opportunity to ask the Boss-man Masai questions about the upcoming season.

Next came out former Raptors Mugsy Bogues who talked about his experience playing for the organization and his love for the city . One thing that stood out in his time given in the presentation was his desire to back up Vince Carter’s jersey potentially being raised into the rafters, the crowd was a mix of positive and negative feedback. Personally speaking I agree with Mugsy and I believe that Vince Carter put Toronto on the map and he deserves the credit where it’s due.

Grand finale of this presentation showcased our beloved stars of the Toronto Raptors. Our captain Demar Derozan , our leader on the floor and general Kyle Lowry & our promising third year big man Jonas Valanciunas. Within this segment including interview style questions with a few laughs in between as all their personalities are different but all click together. They emphasized there thankfulness for the Raptors outstanding support and fan-base and included their personal thoughts on last season and what they expect out of themselves this upcoming season.

All in all the event was an amazing experience and made me this much eager for the season to start. This year is our year and I believe with the additions of certain players are bench is deep enough to take our team to the next level and progress to a long play-off run with potential to compete with any team within the N.B.A night in and night out. One thing that stands us out compared to other teams is our core returning and everyone understanding their roles and contributing to one goal , winning. With the support of a city, country and overall culture change as Kyle Lowry said throughout the presentation ” We fight together as brothers, we go to war together ” we are ready , we the north !

Drake Night: Raptors vs Nets

First time in Raptors history that a Raptors game is featuring and hosting a rapper. And this special person is our local homeboy, Drake! That’s quite historic for a #DrakeNight.

Drake was sitting courtside with his buddies. OVO tee featuring black and gold theme showcasing a sneak preview on future Raptors merchandize. The tee is nicely designed, showcasing the Raptors and OVO logos. It’s long-sleeved, which is quite a good comfort design.

Drake did the hilarious Raptors player intro, along with giving away his “416” Raptors jerseys to the crowd. At half-time, his exclusive DJ, “Future the Prince” did a set and Drake was beside him giving two pairs of limited edition, OVO Jordans to 2 lucky winners!

The Raptors beat the Brooklyn Nets by a score of 96-80, snapping the Nets 5-game winning streak.

Overall, I think it’s a very success night, a victory, a nice OVO tee and great appearance by Drake! Everyone went home happy!

I would love to see a #DrakeNight event once every Raptors season!

Go Raptors Go!

Kanye West “Yeezus” Toronto Tour

Kanye West “Yeezus” Toronto Tour was supposed to be held last month in November but due to a road accident that damaged concert equipment and made it “impossible to put on the show.” that his show was rescheduled until December 22 and 23. That’s just demonstrate to you how serious and professional Kanye is on the quality of his show. He is a perfectionist! But everything happened for a reason! The rescheduled Toronto tour finally happened in the past 2 nights when Kanye performed in both nights at the Air Canada Centre. As it turned out, the rescheduled show was perfect timing, not only it was near Christmas and holiday times, but it was also the last show of the Yeezus Tour. So, it’s a great honour for me to witness his talent and his performance here in Toronto with his last show of the year.

Kendrick Lamar, the up and rising, well-known rapper did the opening, hyping up the crowd with his numbers of hit track singles. The crowd was pumped! Kendrick put on quite a show, warming the crowd up! At one point, he asked the crowd to hold up their smartphones with the flash on, creating an amazing light show around the building. It was quite a sight!

Kendrick Lamar – Opening

As we all heard that Kanye has a tendency of opening his show late (at least 1 hour late). To our surprise, last night, Mr. West was on time! The moment we heard the beats and the speakers were about to play some strong beats, we knew the show will soon begin.

I think Kanye had elevated “live concert” experience to the next level! I was very impressed with the stage setup and all the visual and audio effects accompanied with it. The stage was huge! There was a mountain set that Kanye can stand at different elevation. He performed at the peak of the mountain, the mid-section of the mountain, it’s just surreal! There were smokes coming out to make the mountain scene as real as it could be. The huge circular projector screen on the ceiling was the equipment that forced the concert to be rescheduled. And I totally understood the importance of this equipment because it changed colours and performed various visual effects on it. It complements the mountain, giving every scene a different mood and vibe. The colours it showed gave every scene a morning, afternoon, evening or sunset mode. At one point, Kanye was lying on the spongy stage and this projector was used to show his singing while lying on the spongy stage. So, that was cool.

Kanye Yeezus Tour

During the entire concert, the stage setup continued to impress me. Just as I thought the stage couldn’t do much anymore, it surprised me again and again. I would never thought the spongy “arrow-shaped” part of the stage could elevate up in the air and became a peak of another mountain! When Kanye stood at the peak of the mountain, it’s just so cool, especially with the spot light shining on him. The mountain even split in half (later on in the show) so that dancers can walk through the corridor to the front of the stage.

For most part of the show, Kanye was wearing a mask to make him look mysterious. Not until later, when he met a Jesus figure, that he took off his mask and greet the crowd. Kanye took 30 minutes of his time to go on a rant and talk about various topics in life. He wanted to inspire the crowd and address the misunderstandings the media made about him. He even swear using autotune which was quite a first for me to hear.

And the best to end the concert? Well, Kanye decided to sang the home grown rapper, Drake’s hit single, “Forever“. And to top it off, first time in the Yeezus Tour that a special guest was invited to perform in Kanye’s show. And guess who? It’s Toronto very own rapper, Drake! The moment Drake came out and sang a few songs, that was the highlight of the night. Being able to see the collaboration singing performance by Kanye and Drake was icing on the cake!

It was a great show indeed. One of the best I seen in years! Kanye had tons of hit singles and the amount of money being spent to setup the stage, the visual, audio and fireworks just made the show so much better. Alot of other artists would just set up a simple stage and that’s it, but Kanye is a perfectionist and he wanted to give his best efforts to make this show to the next level. And I am sure he had achieved that in his Yeezus Tour. Love him or hate him, one thing is for certain, Kanye West has talent & he is passionate about everything he does.

See you next time Mr. West! Your killed it! Your show was DOPE!

Disney On Ice: Princesses & Heroes

We got tickets to see the Disney On Ice: Princesses & Heroes (thanks to a contest that I entered via I personally enjoy watching figure skating events, especially during the Winter Olympics. But to watch cartoon characters skating on ice as a show with a story plot, now that was a first for me. I was looking forward to this event. The show was held at Rogers Centre. At first, I wasn’t sure how they were going to fill all the seats as I was still in baseball mentality, thinking a Blue Jays game could sit up to 50,000 people. As I arrived, I realized the Disney On Ice skating area and stage and audience seats only took about 1/3 of the stadium, so it was quite cozy and every seats had a great view to watch the Disney show.

There were quite a number of concession stands selling Disney merchandize and also Disney beverages in Disney characters mugs for the audience to buy as souvenirs. Honestly though, I did found the price of the Disney merchandize a bit steep. A spinning electronic lights were priced at $22. I thought if they can lower down the price a bit, I am sure the parents would be more willingly to make more purchases.

Our seats were great and we could see the entire skating rink clearly. In particular, I was amazed of the stage that was setup as well. It’s 3 floors high and the skaters could perform and stand at 3 different levels. I really like the skating ramp where the skaters can skate out to meet the audience.

As the show began, the music and the costumes and all the familiar characters brought everything to life. They surely brought back my childhood memories when the well-known songs were being played. I enjoyed the Little Mermaid song, “Under The Sea”. The characters came out one-by-one with mini story plots. It really showcased how many movies or characters that Walt Disney had produced over the years. I enjoyed my favourite characters, Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The pumpkin car and the fire-breathing dragon scene were my favourite scenes. The dragon with the eyes lit up and its battle between the prince really brought the show to life, especially the fire and flames were all over the skating rink. The visual was impressive!

Disney on Ice have multiple themes and shows that they tour around the world. The Princesses and Heroes had been touring around the world for two years and this is the first time they have visited Canada. Although I have never watched the other Disney tours but I highly think that these types of Disney shows are great for a family outing. It surely brings the children to their edge of their seats and bringing smiles to their faces, especially during the joyful Christmas Holidays!

Adelaide Club – Celebrating its 36th Anniversary

Yesterday, The Toronto Path (the biggest underground shopping community in the world), informed me of the Toronto Adelaide Club 36th Anniversary Party. So, I had decided to go check it out after work. Adelaide Club is located at the heart of the financial district, inside the First Canadian Place to be exact. It was established in 1978 and consistently provide a place for people to work out, plays various sporting activities and enjoying a nice lifestyle experience.

The moment I walked into the Adelaide Club,  I was greeted by the friendly front desk. Then I was greeted with a glass of champagne by the staff and slowly walked into the beautiful, modern and chic lounge. There was a nice long bar counter where you can enjoy a nice cocktail or beer with your friends. Big TV to enjoy a sports game as well.

The Adelaide Club’s 36th Anniversary had a party theme, which was a Night in Morocco. You could see the pink spot lights and beautiful decor around the lounge. Basketball court turned into a great buffet station. The area was so nicely decorated that you didn’t even know it was a basketball court in the first place. The food was catered by The Sultan’s Tent & Cafe Moroc. Lots of great Moroccan’s food items for us to enjoy and have a taste of the cultural food. The Sultan’s Tent is located at Front Street/Yonge intersection, which is close to the Sony Centre of Arts and the Bier Market, so the restaurant is quite close by the downtown core. I enjoyed my experience during Winterlicious at the Sultan’s Tent.

A Night in Morocco wouldn’t be the same without belly dancers would it? That’s right, the special entertainment feature were two beautiful dancers showcasing their belly flexibility and dance skills. It was a great show.

I met a number of great people who worked around my workplace and this lounge and party created a great opportunity for members to meet new people. Sometimes, people worked at different hours of the day so they may not be able to bump into the same groups of people. So, these type of themed parties are definitely a great idea for mix and mingle.

I was told by other members that these types of parties happened often throughout the year with different theme. With a Halloween party that went successfully last month. I look forward to meeting more great people and attending these great parties. Yesterday, I gave myself a day off to enjoy the delicious traditional Moroccan food and beer. But I promised myself that I will work extra harder on the treadmill the next time I am at the Adelaide Club.

Thanks to Toronto Path informative invite and thanks to the Adelaide Club for having me. I look forward to the next outing!

UFC Jon Jones at Gentlemen’s Expo – (Me Getting Autograph – Feel Good Story)

Current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon “Bones” Jones was one of the special guests at first annual Gentlemen’s Expo that was held at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre this past weekend.

A large crowd of fans were already seated ahead of schedule, making sure that they got good seats to see Jon Jones in person. A few minutes later, Jon Jones stepped onto the stage. Everyone was cheering and applauding for his presence. Jon was a very friendly, down-to-earth guy and he was just straight up hilarious. He greeted the fans with his signature smile and his great sense of humour. You know he really appreciate his fans for coming out to support him.

The 1-hr long session was hosted by both UFC Showdown Joe and Gentlemen’s Expo Host, Todd Shapiro and they talk about Jon Jones previous UFC fights and also his sense of fashion style and lifestyle as a gentlemen.

It was then followed by a Q&A session for fans to ask Jon’s questions.

After the session was over, fans were allowed to lineup at the Exhibit to wait for Jon Jones so that they could take a photo with him or seek an autograph from him.

As part of the media, I would have love to interview one-on-one with Jon Jones, but knowing there were lots of media outlets, the Gentlemen’s Expo organizer could only accommodate a handful of media to get that interview opportunity. I wasn’t granted one but I totally understood the situation so I was fine with snapping photos and videos of Jon Jones to share with my audience (hopefully, next year, I will get the interview opportunity).

As media, there is also an unwritten rule that media shouldn’t be seeking autographs from celebrities or the speakers, which totally makes sense and understood. But as you know, part of my MoVernie Mission is to get autographs from celebrities so that I can donate the autograph items to charitable organizations so they can raise money via silent auctions or raffle prizes. All proceeds raised will be donated to people that are in need.

So…I decided to lineup as if I am just another fan, just like the rest of everybody. I guess Jon Jones interviews took longer than expected. We all waited for more than 1 hour of our time. Lots of peeps gave up and left, but I couldn’t, I really wanted to get the autograph for charity and I don’t give up easily either.

After more than an hour, you could hear the cheers by the crowd. Then, you know Jon Jones had FINALLY arrived at booth. He was interviewed by the TV Host from Then he started greeting fans. The lineup moved slowly and after 30 minutes, I am closer to booth.

The difficult moment strike. The staff lady told me that due to the relative long lineup, I can either take a photo with Jon or get an autograph from Jon, it’s an EITHER OR situation. It was tough man! I mean, for me personally, a photo is worth a thousand words. I would like to take a photo with the champion. But on the other hand, I ain’t going to bring this item for nothing and not get anything autographed. Besides, my mission is for charity.

The lady pressed “You have to make your decision now, what it’s going to be?” It was tough. BUT you know what? I chose for the autograph, it was where my heart was, I wanted this to be autographed for charity. Charity takes priority.

Jon Jones overheard my conversation with the staff lady and here was the conversation between Jon Jones and me.

The MoVernie-Jon Jones Conversation:

Jon Jones (playfully laughing at me): “Dude! You are media, why are you lining up? You could have interviewed me or get autographs backstage, you don’t even need to lineup, hahahaha”

MoVernie: “Jon, see! Even as media, I couldn’t squeeze an interview with you, mind an autograph, I am lining up to get one for charity”

Jon Jones: “Sure you do, you are lying” (Jon was all laughing, joking and playfully saying that, but you know deep down, he was having fun and appreciate my effort).

MoVernie: “It’s part of my mission to give back to charity, it’s something I wanted to do”.

Jon Jones: “I am ONLY teasing you. It’s great you are doing this for charity, keep up the great work! Hand him your camera so he can take a photo of us”

The “him” that Jon was referring was his manager, he wanted me to hand my camera to his manager. At this moment, Jon was concentrating on signing his autographs on my item with my gold marker, and I handed my camera to his manager to snap a photo of us.

Jon Jones: “Here you go! Listen, the autograph is still wet & not dry, make sure you don’t smudge the writing.”

MoVernie: “Jon, thanks for this. Anyone who benefits from the charity will thank you”

From this entire autograph and photo experience, I got to see the good hearted side of Jon Jones. Although, we often see him smashing and striking an opponent on the violent Octagon, he is also an ordinary person just like us off the stage and just being a humble, friendly person.

What strike me was that, despite the gold marker wasn’t as functional and smooth as it could be, Jon needed to write extra hard before the ink can come out. He didn’t got mad or pissed or anything. Instead, he took his time to make it look legible.

And for him to instruct me to ensure to keep the autographs dry and not get any smudge, it showed you how much he cares about every detail and how much precision he wants from everything that he does and he also know this item is for charity that he wants to give his best autograph to the charity. That what hits me the most.

It was a feel-good story and I really enjoyed the process and the autograph experience. I wish Jon Jones his continual success on the UFC Competition. Toronto has a place for him as he had won his titles here in Toronto. This city treats him very well.

“Guys Night Out” Event @ The Bay – MoVernie LifeStyle

Last year, The “Guys Night Out” event at The Bay was awesome, especially they had former Raptors Andrea Bargnani & Jose Calderon dressing up, meeting & greeting the fans.

Although there were no Raptors players this year (even though I could see guys like Amir Johnson, Rudy Gay would be a good fit for this event as they are both stylish fashionable people), it was a great night. The food and games stations were alot better this year. It’s more simple and interactive.

This event was to promote the re-launch of the 2nd Floor at The Bay flagship store with the new menswear clothing line and bigger men’s section.

Have you ever walk around a retail store, sipping scotch? beer? wine? gourmet finger foods while shopping for clothes? That’s an awesome experience, holding a glass of wine and checking out clothes and we DID just that last night at the “Guys Night Out” Event.

The gourmet finger foods were top notch quality, the gigantic shrimp cocktails. Those were super-sized shrimps along with its special sauce on it, it was so juicy and delish. There were also mushroom dumplings, crab cakes, rice rolls, goat cheese biscuit, mini roast beef sliders, mini hamburgers. There were unlimited supply of them and special shoutouts to the hardworking servers who were constantly coming in-and-out to serve us!

Italian Peroni beer was being served everywhere. Top scotch was served as well at different stations. Special cocktail by Appleton Rum was on hand. If you buy $75+ of clothes at The Bay during the night, you get to spin a wheel to win more nice prizes (although, last year’s prizes were way better, motivating more people to buy more clothese last year, at least I did last year).

Fun games were located around the 2nd floor for the participants to win prizes. There was the bike riding challenge where you have to peddle as hard as you can to generate power to get the most distance. The top 10 furthest distance winners win a pair of Levis Commuter jeans. Another docker’s station have people needing to go inside the change room booth, take off their pants and wear the dockers pants in the quickest time. The top 10 fastest changers win a pair of dockers.

There were all kinds of activities around the 2nd floor that fun times just go by quickly. I especially enjoyed the Converse Photobooth, located at the shoes section. We grabbed the Converse shoes as props and post with it, it was fun & creative. I particularly like this photobooth service, we saw them during Hello Canada TIFF party. This photobooth has amazing backdrop, quick photo printing machine with high photo quality as well as another copy emailing being sent straight to your email inbox instantly so you can share with your family & friends.

All-in-all, I had a great time hanging out with my friends and we enjoyed a great night all complimentary by The Bay. If you have time, I recommend you to check out the 2nd floor of The Bay beside the Eaton Centre. It’s a total relaunch with better men clothing brands, bigger space and nicer decor to shop around!

Thank you The Bay for your invitation.
