In early November, Typhoon Haiyan struck South-East Asia, particularly the Philippines, killing thousands and leaving many injured, hungry, and homeless. In dire times, Canada has proven itself as a country of kindness and generosity, donating money, medical aid and various amenities. The Haiyan TO charity gala has successfully raised over $30,000 for those in need.
Upon arrival I was greeted by the friendly PR and chair of the event, Cindy Johnson. Cindy’s courage, persistency and incredible organization were at play as she put this incredibly well executed event together. I was awed by the vibrant, vivid red and blue themed Arcadian Room (red and blue for the colours of the Philippines flag), incredibly elegant dining tables and elaborate floral centerpieces, the symbolic logo for Haiyan TO, and the sweet stops laden with a variety of candies, finely baked cookies and other delectable desserts.
